Hello and welcome to O.O.T Swirled. We are a professional UK based company offering tranditional and nonetraditional
Multicolored swirls globally.
Out Of This Swirled is now in it's official second year. Last year was a busy year seeing us move into bigger premises and
make our operation a lot tighter in many key areas.
From the very beginning we had one goal and that was to replicate the very high standards of main stream guitar manufactures. This meant sourcing the best ingredients for the recipe. We never intended to get involved with clear coating guitars but
have been forced into this as standards of other peoples work were just not reaching our expectations.

This year, now that everything is in place, our goal is to be able to offer a quicker service. Something like pick a body (or send one),
pick a swirl style,
pick your colors and then your away. In a few months time you will have something that everyone would think is a store bought instrument.
This past year we have also made many great contact, people whom have offered advice or gone out of their way to help us for no financial gain
to themselves whatsoever, so we say a big thank you to Jerome, Rich, Steve, Patrick and Rob. We have also made several business contacts that are
enabling us to offer additional services that were impossible to offer this time last years.
Swirl painting in my opinion is an unpredictable Art form. It's very organic, Shifting and changing constantly like the picture in the
view finder of a camera before you press the button and then its captured forever.
Never changing and as unique as any other none mass produced
work of art. Two seconds later and it would have been different two seconds before and again different and no two swirls will ever and
have ever been the same. That’s why I love doing them, I have control and yet I have no control.
Here's a little about me.
My name is Alan Lee and for better or worse I'm a perfectionist, I strive to do everything to the best of my ability.
I have NOT
started this company to paint a million guitars, I'd Rather paint one great guitar than 50 bad ones.
I trying to make every swirl my best swirl to date, with bright colors and great paint coverage. I try the best that I can to
deliver the style or flavor of swirl that the customer is after, that's the best I can do, replication is IMPOSSIBLE.
I have learnt that when it comes to swirls. Beauty is most Definitely in the eye of the beholder.
I have been swirling all sorts of objects for nearly 6 years now. The first years were spent testing and testing and ........ about 2 years ago I stated
showing my swirl to people on guitar forums where they received a great response so I went back to work on finding all the best material to prep and finish
peoples guitars professionally.
I might also add that I am not doing this just to do what has been done before, I'm also here to innovate, I have a lot of ideas that are in
prototype stages. I worked really hard to find out how to swirl paint correctly. So rest assured if it takes me another 6 years, you will see them.
I have had a great reception from the people that I trust to show them to, so watch this space! (2 have been done now. The PGM and the
Neo swirled Ibanez 7 string. only 8 or 9 to go)
I'm following in the footsteps of other swirlers who have come before me like
Darren Johansen of A.T.D (About Time Designs) the company responsible for the original Ibanez swirls and the first guy to ever swirl paint a
guitar (the bowling ball finish Fender teles and strats) so hats off to Darren where ever he is now. Credit
where credit is due.
Here is a little page I put together on Guitar Swirling History.
Another great swirler to hang up his boots last year (July 1 2008) was Herc Fede. Herc, in my opinion, did
some great work, he seemed to be constantly producing quality work and I spent many hours over the past few years
looking at his swirl gallery.
How did I end up here?
I was first introduced to swirl painting back in 91' by a good friend of mine named Jeff Clarke who owned an original
Ibanez Universe with a PAW (Passion and Warfare) swirl on it. I was amazed and remember asking him how they did
the paint job. He also introduced me to the music of Steve Vai and Satch and Andy Timmons.... a true gent. He
also lent me my first guitar, and then another and another, and my first tab "House of Broken Love" by Great White.
Had Jeff not lent me that guitar who knows where I would be now?
Well, there you have it, you’re up to speed. Please take a look around the site it will be updated regularly.
Alan.
